Food Network is proud to host the First National Potjie Day on Saturday 27 August, 2011. We are calling on all South Africans to dust off your potjies and join thousands of like-minded foodies to showcase your best potjie recipes on this new holiday.

We encourage you to keep up with our Potjie Twitter chat and also share your National Potjie Day festivities with us through Facebook and Twitter.

Potjie Challenge Finalists

Food Network is excited that the First National Potjie Day Challege will be staged at The Cabanas in Sun City, South Africa on Saturday 27, August 2011. Six finalist teams will be competing to win the gold, silver & bronze potjie pot trophies.

Over 70 teams came out to Four Ways High School in Johannesburg to compete in the Potjie Cook Off. Hundreds of people came to enjoy delicious potjie and support their community. See more about the Potjie Cook Off.

National Potjie Day Judges

Food Network is proud to announce our MC & judges that will be at the Potjie Competition. South African Chef, Jenny Morris will be the MC, along with our judges, Executive Chefs: Nicholas Froneman, Phineas Lepuru & Andrew Robertson.

National Potjie Day at Sun City

This one day, family event will start at 11.00. The finalist teams from the Four Ways High School Potjie Cook Off in Johannesburg will be competing for the first place trophy. There will be celebrity chef appearances, a National Potjie Day lunch, children's area and delicious refreshments for the public.

We will have live coverage of the event on Twitter, so that no one misses any of the action. The event is free to watch and enjoy, but there is an R100 fee to enter Sun City. So join us at The Cabanas in Sun City over the weekend.
